Vehicle Preparedness Kit

slider-carprepkitWhile having a family preparedness kit is important, disasters and emergencies occur while we are on the road too.  When emergencies happen while we are traveling, we are placed in a situation with additional risk.  We are more exposed to bad weather and the environment and have less resources available to us if something goes wrong.  To keep ourselves safe, we need to put together a vehicle preparedness kit to keep in each of our vehicles.  If you were to be stranded, here are a few items that would be handy to have:

Vehicle Emergency Supplies

  • Jumper cables
  • Flashlights and extra batteries
  • First aid kit and necessary medications
  • Food items containing protein, such as nuts and energy bars
  • Water for each person and pet
  • AM/FM Radio
  • Cat litter or sand for extra tire traction
  • Portable shovel
  • Ice scraper
  • A change of clothes
  • A jacket or blanket
  • Flares or reflective triangles
  • Baby formula and diapers, if you have a small child
  • A fully-charged cell phone and phone charger
