It is important to plan ahead for when disaster does strike. Where are safe places and how will you get to them? How will you communicate with your family? What important documents do you need? When developing a Family Emergency Plan, you methodically answer these questions while developing a functional and effective plan that may save you or a loved one’s life.
The national Ready campaign has created a template that you can use to create your family plan. Once you have completed it, you can send your completed plan to family members by email or print a copy for them. Make sure to go over the plan with family members, especially children, so that everyone is on the same page before disaster strikes.
