Why Know About the Hazards Within the Region?

The HOTCOG Region consists of six counties in Central Texas.  These counties are Bosque, Falls, Freestone, Hill, Limestone, and McLennan Counties.  Together, they consist of over 60 cities and communities and more than 5,500 square miles.  Due to the location of the region and its climate, there are a number of hazards that impact our citizens and communities.

Knowing what hazards can affect you is a key element of preparedness.  If we don’t know what to prepare for, how can we actually be prepared?  Having information about these hazards allows us to take the appropriate actions to minimize their impact.  We can decrease damages from flooding and protect ourselves from injuries during tornadoes.  To do this, we have to have a basic understanding of each hazard and how they affect us.  To learn more about these hazards, use the buttons below:
