Public Safety Broadband/LTE Online Learning Center Launched

Texas Public Safety Broadband Program (TxPSBP) announced today the launch of the program’s e-learning center at or The initial course, “Introduction to Public Safety Broadband,” is the first of its kind to provide a detailed overview of public safety broadband, as part of the nationwide network proposed by FirstNet and NTIA.

The free, self-paced 2-hour course provides two options for enrollment: earn Continuing Education (CE) credits with required examination or an information only course. Both formats provide training on elements related to public safety broadband such as:

  • Overview of public safety broadband
  • Introduction to TxPSBP
  • History behind public safety broadband
  • Importance of why this technology is needed for the industry
  • Differences between a dedicated public safety broadband network and the current commercial carrier model

The course launched today on the e-learning center is the first of many courses slated to be developed over the life of the program. TxPSBP, in conjunction with Texas A&M Engineering Extension (TEEX), has commissioned this initial course to provide a snapshot of the industry’s future to first responders so they can better understand the program and learn more on how to become involved.
