Texas Public Safety Broadband Program (TxPSBP) announced today the launch of the program’s e-learning center at https://txlte.freedomlearn.com or http://txlte.com. The initial course, “Introduction to Public Safety Broadband,” is the first of its kind to provide a detailed overview of public safety broadband, as part of the nationwide network proposed by FirstNet and NTIA.
The free, self-paced 2-hour course provides two options for enrollment: earn Continuing Education (CE) credits with required examination or an information only course. Both formats provide training on elements related to public safety broadband such as:
- Overview of public safety broadband
- Introduction to TxPSBP
- History behind public safety broadband
- Importance of why this technology is needed for the industry
- Differences between a dedicated public safety broadband network and the current commercial carrier model
The course launched today on the e-learning center is the first of many courses slated to be developed over the life of the program. TxPSBP, in conjunction with Texas A&M Engineering Extension (TEEX), has commissioned this initial course to provide a snapshot of the industry’s future to first responders so they can better understand the program and learn more on how to become involved.
