Chapter 1: User Account Registration
The first step in gaining the benefits of the HOTREADY site
is to create a user account. User
accounts are required in order to post information and files, as well as for
joining groups, such as COG committees and emergency manager/responder
groups. In order to create a user
account, follow the steps below:

1.
On the home page (http://hotready.com),
click the “Join” link in the upper-right hand corner of the window. [Image

2.
Enter a sign in name. This name can be anything that you choose,
therefore pick a name that you can remember.
Usernames that are most commonly used are names (Boyce.Wilson) and
positions (freestoneemc).
3.
Choose a password. Note that you must enter the same password in
both boxes. Password must be six
characters in length at a minimum. Make
sure that you do not share your password with anyone.
4.
Enter your email address. Note that you must enter the same email
address in both boxes. Your email
address will not be shared with anyone.
It is used to recover your password if forgotten and to send you email
updates to the website, should you choose to opt-in to email subscriptions.
5.
Select your timezone.
6.
If you would like the webmasters of this site to
be able to contact you, place a check-mark in the first box by clicking on the
square.
7.
If you would like the site’s partners to contact
you, place a check-mark in the second box.
At this time, this site is not supported by partners, therefore you
should see no effect regardless of whether the box is checked.
8.
Once the form is completed, click the “Join Now >>”
button.

9.
Once the form is submitted, you will have an
activated account on the website. Feel
free to click the link to edit your profile and add an avatar image, biography,
and announcements or you can choose to navigate through the rest of the site.
